Transliteration /taqlīd/
Arabic تقليد

Taqlīd is the act of following a chosen marjaʿ’s rulings in matters of religious law. In Shia Jaʿfari practice, every adult who is not themselves a qualified mujtahid is expected to be in taqlid of one. And apply that marjaʿ’s verdicts consistently across worship, transactions, and daily life.

Practical implication for Tuhr

When you set your marjaʿ in the Tuhr app, every classification, every ritual recommendation, every ruling citation switches to that marjaʿ’s positions. If you change marjaʿ later, the engine recomputes historical classifications and warns you about what has changed.

Rujūʿ

Sometimes a muqallid (follower) is permitted to do rujūʿ: switch to another mujtahid for a single specific question. A. Khamenei’s office instructs muqallids to do exactly this on the menopause-age threshold for hayd, since he does not issue a binding ruling on it himself. The app surfaces this option for A. Khamenei muqallids in the relevant lifecycle window.
